Do you have to restart IIS when deploying webparts with Sharepoint 2007?

I've never played with Sharepoint 2007 yet (too many other things to do now ), but this is one of the coolest Microsoft's products that I'm waiting for.

I'm sure that Sharepoint 2007 is a big improvement and I'm really exciting to test the new embedded workflow system, however when today I was reading this post on Sahil's blog I was a bit surprised: why a "giant" like Sharepoint 2007 falls onĀ essential things like these?

I was laughing when reading the point 3: if you need to deploy a new webpart and you need to change the web.config file, you need an IIS reset!

Is it true? What about the impact on production systems? If so, we've to start planning the updates on late hours...
