I'm sure that many of you have noticed that in these days my blog was a bit "unstable": up on some moments and down for others.
The cause of these unstability was due to an idea that I had on my mind from a lot of time but that I've never realized for many reasons, the upgrade to a new blog's platform.
My blog was running well for years on a customized .Text 0.95 platform. I was totally satisfied of this platform, expecially because it was open source, so during the years I had the chance to add customization to satisfy my needs (skins and expecially a CAPTCHA control and a wonderful antispam filter via SQL that has totally reduced the spam's problem on my blog).
But .Text 0.95 was based on an ASP.NET 1.1 platform, and now with the fascinating ASP.NET 2.0 ready to be used... the tempation for a migration was too much.
So, what platform to choose? My attention was focused on two main choice:
- CommunityServer
- SubText
The choice was not too simple as someone could imagine becauseĀ all the two platforms has pro and cons, but after a period where I've tryed them, actually I've done the final decision: my new blog will be based on SubText.
Why this reason? CommunityServer is rich of interesting feature but there's a big aspect that I've taken into consideration and that has "weight a lot" for my final decision: SubText is an open source platform, so totally customizable as I want (exactly like my previous .Text platform).
So, ladies and gentleman... this is my new blog!
Thanks a lot to Phil Haack: if a day you'll read this post, you'll know that here there's a people that loves a lot your project. Never stop your great work!
