Windows Anytime Upgrade for Vista under test

Despite what malicius voices are saying around Windows Vista, Microsoft is working hard to release a great new OS, rich of features that customers are asking from a lot of time (despite what someone could think, Microsoft is really near to their customers).

One of the coolest feature that Vista will have is called Windows Anytime Upgrade, a new feature that will enable consumers of Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Business editions to purchase and upgrade online to a higher edition of Windows Vista in order to enjoy additional features.

This is a great feature that will permit us to have a more "dynamic" system: we could start with the Home edition and upgrade it online only (and if) when we need new features.

The Windows Anytime Upgrade tests will start this week (the beta will only be tested for the upgrade scenario of Home Premium to Ultimate) and when Vista will be finally released, activate the upgrade process will be extremely simple: in the search box at the bottom of the start menu, type the word "upgrade" without quotes, or alternatively, you can launch the Windows Anytime Upgrade dialog by opening the Control Panel, clicking on the System and Maintenance icon and clicking on the Windows Anytime Upgrade Link. Then the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature will guide you through the entire upgrade process.

Really cool, isn't it?
