Today 've passed my first Microsoft Business Solutions MCP Exam, Microsoft Navision Development (Development II with the future nomination). Hurra!
The exam was not so easy, questions sometimes was hard to understand and the arguments covered are a lot. Unfortunately, there's not too much informations regarding MBS exams on the net so I want to leave some feedbacks for people that will take this exam in the future:
You've to focus your study on:
- Methodology: lots of questions are about development methodology, its phases, how to organize projects, documents that you've to do with the customers and during the development etc. (lots of questions)
- Navision architecture: you've to know well how to name a table regarding its type, what are the forms that must be related to a table and what are the menus that you've to provide on a form (according to the standard)
- Posting Routines: you've to know how the posting routines (Journal to Ledger) works, expecially the "single table posting function" schema.
- Triggers: you've to know triggers very well, when they fire and on what triggers place some code (lots of questions are in the form "in what triggers will you place the code below").
- How to build Forms with header and lines, Reports with grouped data and Dataports.
The last 20-25 questions are about a real project and they ask how you'll build some features. You've to read a lot and the 150 minutes that you have for the entire exam (for non english people only) can appear a big time but you'll see that it's not so much (I've complete the exam in 140 minutes). Be careful on reading the question...
