Opera meets IRC

This week the new releases of Mozilla (1.7 RC1) and Opera (ver. 7.50 beta 1) was released.

Mozilla is a great browser and it's really fast, but now I want to signal a new feature that comes with Opera and not published well: the new Opera version will have a all new slick interface featuring smaller buttons, as well as two new additions: both an email client as a IRC client.

This is a great feature... a good platform ready to use, the first browser with an integrated IRC client. Great idea!

Yeah, I can't undertand why nobody got it before: IRC is very essential for web browsing. I'm also looking forward a 3d renderer and minesweep integrated with my browser... who knows, if donwload times are too long I can enjoy a match while I'm waiting.

More seriously, without sarcasm: Opera is a nice lightweight browser, with several limitations, but terribly fast and suitable for small footprint devices. So, why bundle rubbish, instead of improving the features that make Opera an unique browser?

BTW, keep an eye on Konqueror, which will soon become the best alternative to IE.
